Samantha showed support for her colleagues in the Telugu film industry on Instagram, thanking the WCC for their unwavering efforts in Kerala that made this possible. She said that the Voice of Women, a support network for women in the Telugu film industry, was founded in 2019 with inspiration from the WCC. Samantha urged the Telangana government to follow the Keralan government’s lead and implement a comparable measure.
We hereby encourage the Telangana government to publish the submitted sub-committee report on sexual harassment, which can help define industry and government regulations, to promote a safe working environment for women in the TFI (sic).” Her article ended with a strong call to action.
Following the national release of the Hema Committee’s conclusions, a number of well-known figures have come forward to discuss their own experiences with harassment. The executive committee was dissolved as a result of Mohanlal’s resignation as chairman of the Association of Malayalam Movie Artists following the release of the report.
